ABCRC Sponsors Annual Waste Reduction Conference
October 27, 2017
The Recycling Council of Alberta (RCA) once again hosted their annual Waste Reduction Conference from October 11th – 13th, 2017. Held at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, hundreds of attendees were surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and breathtaking, if not unexpected, amounts of snowfall. For three days this event brought together a mix of environmental professionals, innovators, students and grassroots organizations in an effort to provide valuable educational and networking opportunities.
Following the theme of “It Takes a Village”, this year’s conference featured a wide variety of topics including young waste reduction entrepreneurs, discussions around food waste, ICI programs, reuse initiatives and more. Headlining the event was keynote speaker Sudhir Suri of L’OEUF Architects, whose sustainable living systems have garnered multiple awards over the past 20 years.
ABCRC is a proud sponsor of this event and has been a significant contributor for several years. In addition to Guy West, this year’s attendance included Shanna Chew and Sarah Press who found the sessions to be inspiring and informative.
“It was great to be surrounded by like-minded individuals who are all passionate about reducing our waste and improving the environment” – Sarah Press, Community Engagement Coordinator.
Next year’s conference will take place from September 19th – 21st, 2018 at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. If you would like to attend, please contact the RCA for updates.
