Waste Reduction Conference Highlights
October 25, 2019
The Recycling Council of Alberta (RCA) hosted their annual Waste Reduction Conference from October 2-4, 2019, at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in beautiful Jasper, Alberta. Attendees included environmental professionals, innovators, students and grassroots organizations, all there to share expertise and innovation, network, and take advantage of invaluable educational opportunities.
With a theme of “Sea Change”, this year’s conference featured a trade show, a "silent auction" fundraiser, a tour of the sustainable projects going on at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and presentations on a wide variety of topics, including Circular Cities, recycling in rural areas, textiles in the waste stream, and moving toward Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Alberta. Headlining the event was keynote speaker Anthony Rossi, Vice President of Global Business Development for Loop (TerraCycle company). He presented Loop's new global platform, which enables consumer product companies and retailers to shift from a disposable supply chain to a durable one.
